Wines are listed in order from driest to sweetest with Ports at the end. Tasting is most representative of flavor if started with dry wines and then trying sweeter wines. The palate adjusts much more slowly in the reverse. At the winery, free sampling is limited to 6 wines or for only $3.00 you can sample more and then keep the glass as a reminder of your experience.
Woodland White- Very dry Villard Blanc finished on American Oak.
Villard Blanc- Dry, white table wine without oak. Excellent for food pairing or simply sipping on the patio.
Cabernet Franc- A pleasant dry red wine from 100% Southern Illinois grapes offering flavors of plum and berries.
Two Worlds- A dry red blend of Shawnee Hills grapes: 60% Cabernet Franc, an old world vitis vinifera, and 40% Norton, a new world vitis aestivalis. A pleasant mixture of both worlds.
Chambourcin Estate- American White Oak Barrel aged in a cool environment since 2006 and bottled around Thanksgiving 2009, this wine has developed pleasant berry character without overwhelming oak. Grown here, produced here, and bottled here, this is a perfect example of terroir influence on Shawnee Hills wine.
Chardonel- Semi-dry white wine from Shawnee Hills grapes. This is a hybrid cross of Chardonnay and Seyval Blanc.
Roadside Red- Semi-sweet to sweet red wine named for the abandoned road behind the winery. Pleasant for any festive occasion or to satisfy sweet wine lovers.
BIG DIESEL WhINE- A fun wine inspired by a song of the same name by local parody musicians RogNboB, now on it's fourth run. The Calling in Well CD with the song on it is also available at the winery.
Blackberry Boogie- intense blackberry wine to partner with the Second Pickin' CD by the Blackberry Blossoms. Sold Out!! More ready for Christmas 2010.
Roadside White- A sweet white wine produced from Golden Muscat and Niagara grapes. Very rich flavor and aroma.
Ruvanesque- decadently sweet with 10% residual sugar developed to compliment the rich sounds of singer, song-writer Ruvane Kurland and Six String Ride's Traveler CD, also available at the winery.
Dessert Wines; Ports and Sherry
Gleaner’s Port- Chambourcin fortified with brandy spirits in a port style before the sweetness is gone. Sweet chocolate desserts taste even better with this wine. Very nice as a night cap.
Cobden Cream- Wonderful cream sherry style wine from Shawnee Hills grapes blended over our 7 year history. Our best selling wine, Cobden Cream currently is once again sold out and a waiting list started. Next bottling scheduled for October.
